ABOUT
The roots of resilience are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of a loving, attuned and self-possessed other.

I currently see clients in person and online through Protea Wellness, a group practice in Seattle, Washington.
Prior to returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2025, I worked at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, a community mental health clinic in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I began my work there as a navigator, supporting clients with access to vital services, then as an intern, and as a licensed/associate therapist.
Before I decided to join the MA/Counseling program at Southwestern College, I enjoyed a challenging and fulfilling career as a theatre artist and educator, practicing and guiding others in what is essentially the art and craft of empathy. Over the span of almost 40 years, I lived and worked in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
Therapy, like theatre, is a profoundly humanitarian act — it involves the cultivation of authenticity, compassion and acceptance. And it is a collaboration.
I believe collaboration is central to cultivating belonging, building community and establishing meaningful relationships and is foundational to our mental and physical health and wellbeing.
My own healing journey has included struggles and recovery related to addictions and developmental and sexual trauma. I know first-hand the challenges and the possibilities inherent in healing work. As I move into this next phase of my life, I am empowered and inspired by the breadth and depth of the healing I have personally experienced and that I have witnessed in so many others.
The only path that can carry me home is the path of self-compassion. The global expressions of suffering — violence, the oppression of nondominant populations, the unsustainable and addictive consuming that threatens this earth — all arise out of fear and are rooted in feelings of separation and otherness. Radical compassion expresses the truth of our interdependence and mutual belonging. Living true to ourselves becomes, in its fullness, living true to our collective path of healing and freedom, our shared yearning for a peaceful, loving world.

Core Values
Working and seeing through a lens that explores and examines chronic stress, trauma, and the impacts on human health due to the effects of dominator culture, oppression, isolation, division, and relational conflict, is central to my core values.
In my personal, professional, and creative life, I strive to be of service, to expand consciousness and to deepen multicultural awareness. As a white, middle class, nonbinary, lesbian/queer elder, I have a certain level of privilege and levels of non-privilege. I am mindful to uncover and discover my blind spots and to take responsibility for my ongoing anti-racist education.
In my work I offer:
Trauma informed support for healing and wholeness
Holistic, strengths-based approach with a wellness orientation
Whole person centered, acknowledging the multi-dimensionality within each of us: emotional, cognitive, interpersonal, physical, behavioral, contextual, cultural, and spiritual
Solutions focused, with an emphasis on accessing one’s inherent wisdom, curiosity and compassion
